It's not your imagination... I really did delete a gargantuan amount of text that was here before, and I did so deliberately. What was I thinking? Here's what-- as I have played these thoughts and feelings out to their conclusion-- what I want to do with my life-- I have realized that the tone of the "deleted" work (I use quotation marks because of course I saved it to my hard drive) is no longer appropriate for someone who's suddenly that passionate about putting Jesus first in their lives. I won't censor myself, but there are a few things in there I need time to re-think about from a spiritual aspect before putting it out here once more for the entire world to see.
Stay tuned. In the meantime, anyone to whom I've given special permission to access this blog and thus the work as a whole, original copies of the document are still available upon request. In fact, I'll want to give a copy to you, Kerianna, because you're the most organized person I know other than myself (and maybe you're moreso, I don't know).
Watch this space. My next post is going to be very long, very detailed, and talk about, in great detail, what I'm calling a "spiritual renaissance" that has happened to me the last few days. God, I hope it's real and that the bubble doesn't burst. My day-to-day goal from this moment forward will be "Let your light shine, every day." posted by Eddie 4:22 AM

These are the Karaoke songs I performed at Mel's Place last Saturday, August 18, 2007, as seen in the embedded playlist.
"All Night Long" by Lionel Richie: I love this song. And I love how people reacted to it-- "wait, the fifth white guy in a row, and he's not singing country or even rock and roll but pop/reggae?!" But it came off very well! It's a great feel-good party song! Dance, express yourself, HAVE FUN~!
I love the music video in this, too-- especially the dancing police officer, just as you thought he was gonna break up the party. The Karaoke version surprised me with a version that wasn't in the music video, though, but I recovered by, hee, reading the screen as you're supposed to do. ;)
"Suddenly" by Billy Ocean: My first of two smooth, R&B/pop love songs of the evening. I sung it in a nice, smooth bass-baritone voice, and I think from a strict musical standpoint, it was my best performance of the evening. Shelly (my buddy Erik's girlfriend, and a good friend in her own right) was very complimentary.
"Men in Black" by Will Smith: After doing reggae and then R&B, I completed the stereotypical African-American trifecta by going with what I announced as my "token rap song of the evening". I even did the dance, but it was a little awkward because (1) I'm not used to dancing, and (2) the microphone was restricting me somewhat. And I kept the mike on the stand for the dance part, not a good idea. But I still had fun, "sang" well, and Brandon (a friend of mine, employee and husband of Shannon, one of the bartenders) loved it. He's more the type to do rap songs, so he got a big kick out of it.
"A Groovy Kind of Love" by Phil Collins: My most emotional performance of the evening-- at least, with the emotions "loneliness" and "deep passion", not "anger" as the next song would entail. Phil Collins, man, he says it all. Only after the fact did I really stare deeply into those lyrics and find something that, ultimately, I really want out of a woman. "When you're in my arms, nothing seems to matter. My whole world could shatter, I don't care!" So beautiful.
"Snowblind" by Styx: Keith, the Karaoke jock, finally fixed the freakin' Styx CD! I've been wanting to sing this song for five months, so I just cut loose on this one, which made it fantastic but also meant it should have been the end of the evening for me. (It wasn't, and the next song suffered the burden). I love Snowblind so much. It's a message that could be applied equally to drugs, or an abusive relationship of any kind. Anyone who's ever felt trapped by anything-- drug abuse, spousal abuse, doing the same damn job every day, can empathize with this song. And it also freakin' ROCKS, too.
"I Can't Drive 55" by Sammy Hagar: Unfortunately, after Snowblind, I had nothing left, and I screeched and massacred Sammy Hagar. Should have gone down an octave. Sorry about that, Sammy my man! Also, towards the end, one of my friends literally passed out from too much drink (and was caught by Keith). I was incensed at the one or two assholes who laughed at him. posted by Eddie 11:26 AM
